These are actually really tasty, healthy, as well as on budget and easy to make. Crispy on the outside and soft inside.
The ingredients, that i used, i had in my pantry/fridge, you can always play around with this. That is how i made this dish, just by playing around.
I soaked dry peas and rice overnight, and then added, what i thought is appropriate.
Ingredients:
Rice- 1/2 cup.
Green split peas (dry)- 1/2 cup.
Yellow split peas dry- 1/2 cup.
Garlic- 1 clove,cut.
Ginger- 1 inch, cut.
Red chilies-2 small or 1 big, cut.
Smoked paprika- 1/2 teaspoon.
Salt
Oil
Directions:
Rinse well and soak rice, yellow peas and green peas in water (water level should be 2 fingers above).
Wash soaked ingredients and drain.
Crush them in a blender with garlic, ginger ,chilies and salt with paprika, until smooth paste. Like this.
Heat an oil on a frying non stick pan, add a scoop of mixture, press it with a spatula and cook till golden brown on both sides (around 3 minuets on each side).
You can serve it with dips or on it’s own.
Hi, these look amazing and so cost-effective!! Can you just confirm – the rice and peas are/aren’t cooked when you blend them..? 🙂

I wonder if my hubs would eat this! Sounds interesting! I can see this being an alternative to corn cakes.

Yes, it’s always an issue with hubs, but these don’t taste as rice and peas, at all. Actually, it is hard to figure out, what you are eating exactly. I think if you serve it with their favourite dips, they will love it.)))Please, let me know, if you make it.😀
