I personally love Korean cuisine, the staples of which are chilies, sesame oil, sesame seeds, garlic and scallions.
Tofu firm- 1 packet, sliced in 7 mm slices.
Scallions- 3 chopped, reserve some for garnishing.
Onion- 1 chopped.
Garlic- 3 cloves, chopped.
Sesame oil- 1 tablespoon.
Toasted Sesame Seeds- 1 teaspoon seeds for garnishing.
Oil for frying.
For the sauce:
Water- 1 cup.
Soy sauce- 2 tablespoons.
Sugar- 1 tablespoon.
Salt- 1 teaspoon.
Chili flakes, paprika-1 tablespoon each.
Mix all the sauce ingredients in a bowl.
Heat an oil in anon stick frying pan, fry tofu till browned on both sides. This would take time, please be patient.
Take the tofu out, reserve the oil. Clean the pan, as there will be some bits and pieces, that you don’t want to be in a dish.
Heat an oil and add onion, garlic and scallions. Cook till softened, add your sauce, cook whilst stirring for a couple of minuets till the sauce thickens.
Add your tofu, make sure it’s coated with sauce and absorbs it for a while.
Garnish with reserved scallions and sesame seeds.Serve with rice.
